Community Advocacy

Video: What our client's say about VITAL's service

Individuals who are vulnerable due to mental illness may face challenges in expressing their views or feeling heard.

At VITAL, our advocates provide dedicated support to help individuals navigate the issues they are facing.

Our community advocacy services are free, confidential, and completely independent. Advocates act solely in the best interests of the individuals they support, taking action only with their explicit agreement.

How can an Advocate help?

Our advocates empower individuals by helping them understand their rights, explore their options, and ensure their voices are heard.

We can offer support if you:

  • Need assistance in expressing your views or speaking up for yourself
  • Are struggling to get others to listen to you
  • Feel vulnerable or believe you are at risk of abuse or discrimination
  • Require help accessing services that support your health, wellbeing, or independence

Advocates can assist with writing letters, making phone calls, arranging appointments, and attending meetings to provide support and guidance.

The support is tailored to the individual's unique needs and may involve helping them navigate complex systems that may otherwise feel daunting.

If you have a Bradford postcode and feel you need support from one of our advocates call 01274 770118, email hello@vitalprojects.org.uk

What an advocate can and can't do

An advocate plays a crucial role in raising awareness, supporting individuals, and fighting stigma related to mental health issues. However, there are limits to what they can do, especially regarding medical and legal responsibilities.
