About Self Advocacy

 

Self-advocacy is the ability to speak up for yourself, make your own decisions, and communicate your needs, rights, and interests effectively. It involves understanding your strengths, challenges, and the support you need while taking responsibility for your well-being. 


Self-advocacy is particularly valuable for individuals navigating complex systems where they must assert their needs. It empowers people to take control of their lives and stand up for themselves confidently.  


We want to help people advocate for themselves where ever possible, and we run sessions to help people learn the skills to get their voices heard.


The half day programme helps you to: 


  • RECOGNISE how to identify needs and preferences 
  • REFLECT on previous experiences of not being heard 
  • OVERCOME some of the barriers to self advocacy
  • LEARN in a safe and comfortable environment
