Forensic Advocacy
Independent Mental Health Advocacy is provided to the three forensic wards at Moorlands View in recognition of the specific needs of these patients. A dedicated advocate attends ward rounds, ensures patients are aware of their rights (Mental Health Act and court orders), represents wishes and feelings to staff and responsible clinicians (medication, leave requests, care planning including discharge arrangements).
We are also able to escalate complaints or concerns to ward and unit managers (activities, environment, safeguarding) both for individuals and where common concerns are raised collectively. An independent voice present on the ward is vital for patient welfare.
