BECOMING A TRUSTEE

It takes a special kind of somebody to volunteer their time for free but at VITAL we have six incredible individuals who do this on a regular basis but we are always looking for extra people to join the team.

Trustees contribute actively to the Board by giving strategic direction and governance support to the Charity and ensuring the charity’s effective and efficient administration and future financial stability.  There is no need to have trustee experience to apply and we want to have a wide range of people on the Board, and seek to be representative of the diverse population we work with.

What trustees do:

  • Attend Board meetings (currently these are 6 weekly and on Monday afternoons)
  • Contribute advice and support on an ad hoc basis; and
  • Attend events as appropriate
  • Provided you are eligible to be a trustee your role will be to provide governance and strategic support to Vital, by:
  • Ensuring that VITAL is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit
  • Ensuring that VITAL works within its own governing document and the law
  • Acting in the best interests of VITAL at all times as a Trustee
  • Be responsible with other Trustees for ensuring that VITAL resources are managed responsibly
  • Acting with reasonable care and skill and ensuring that VITAL is accountable

Anyone interested in joining us as a trustee would need to become an approved member of the organisation as only people who have been members for three months can apply to become trustees.
